Lecture Title: “The Authorial Text in Visual Art”

Nadija Mustapić, a visual artist working with multimedia installations in gallery contexts, will discuss the use of the authorial text as an equal element alongside moving images and spatial sound. In her work, text appears either as a visual sign or a voice-over, depending on the concept, and it creates meaning through its interaction with other media layers.

In her installations, text is not an autonomous expression, but part of a composition that activates the viewer’s sensory and intellectual experience. Through non-linear narration, fragments of image, sound, and words shape environments of uncertain meanings, where space becomes a site of encounter between the physical and the perceptual.

These works emerge and function as spatial puzzles, where meaning is constructed in the moment of viewing, through a multi-layered dialogue between media and observer.

In addition to presenting several of her works, she will also speak about her direct experience attending CeKaPe’s writing workshops, which opened up entirely new insights into the possibilities of using text as a means of expression in her practice.
